Partnering with Giva: Creating Accessible Luxury

When we first met Ishendra, we were struck by the clarity and conviction in his approach of building and scaling a consumer business in the jewellery category. It’s a category Spring has admired and worked on extensively, and we were excited by his mission to create accessible luxury for a new generation of new-age, digital-first consumers.

Ishendra, an electrical engineer by training, founded Giva in 2019, together with Nikita, a seasoned jewellery designer who studied at NIFT, and Sachin, who previously worked at Guild Capital, Credit Suisse, Reliance and Deloitte.

We have been fascinated with the jewellery category for many years, having worked closely with brands like Tanishq, Mia and Zoya. As Indian consumers are looking to premiumise and expand their fashion choices, jewellery is seeing a resurgence with new-age and legacy brands building solutions for the growing consumer demand.

Giva is one of the first organised fine silver jewellery brands that is creating quality real silver jewellery in modern designs for the new-age Indian consumer. While gold has long ruled India, Giva led the fine-silver jewellery trend in India by promising real silver jewellery, modern on-trend designs and affordable price points.

The team started out selling high-end silver jewellery through their own website and app, and then scaled their reach and distribution through marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart and Nykaa. They later expanded with a robust online-to-offline strategy, and today have more than 40 retail stores across seven cities. While Silver is at the core of their offering, they’ve now added gold to their catalogue, with a wider vision of creating accessible luxury.

Recognizing that young consumers want to stand out, the team at Giva launches over 50 new designs each week for everyday wear and special occasions. We like how they’ve gone beyond the large metros, and have reached out to consumers in Tier One and Tier Two cities and towns by partnering with micro-influencers.

Over the last few months, we’ve brainstormed with Ishen about creating a brand strategy that will bring their vision to “Be the best in Fine Jewellery” to life – and will help Giva build deep, enduring connections with consumers across India.

Today, we at Spring Marketing Capital are excited to announce that we’re participating in Giva’s Series B round. Our entire team is excited to partner with Ishendra, Nikita and Sachin in building India’s next big jewellery brand.
